Introduction
 
The information presented in this Learning Resource and Assessment Guide is designed to provide you with some background information, and/or reference to material that will help you learn about the biology of New Zealand Freshwater Eels.  This includes:
  • describing the fin fish species;
  • locating and identifying anatomical features of the eel species and determining the sex of the eel species;
  • describing the feeding, reproduction and life cycle of the eel species;
  • describing factors that influence growth of the eel species; and
  • describing abnormal features and behaviours that indicate potential eel health issues.
 
To meet the requirements of this module you are required to competently:
  • Complete the Assessment Activities in this Learning Resource & Assessment Guide. 
  • This may be demonstrated orally or in written form.
  • Note that any Group Assessment Activity may require follow-up with questions from your kaiako.
